How to add widgets on the iPhone Duo

You add a widget on the iPhone Duo the same way as on any iPhone. The difference is the pages: when the phone is open, you see two pages at once.

Before you start: plan your pages in pairs

The iPhone Duo has one set of Home Screen pages. When the phone is closed, you see one page at a time. When the phone is open, you see two pages side by side.

So plan your pages in pairs. What sits on page 1 shows beside page 2 when the phone is open.

Duo Widgets has Pairs: two Extra Large widgets made to sit on facing pages. For example, the Desk pair puts a big Fold Clock on the left page and your Status Board rows on the right page.

Step 1: Add a widget

  1. Touch and hold an empty part of the Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
  2. Tap Edit, then tap Add Widget.
  3. Search for the app, or scroll the list.
  4. Swipe left or right to see the sizes: Small, Medium, Large, and, in iOS 27, Extra Large.
  5. Tap Add Widget, drag the widget where you want it, then tap Done.

Step 2: Put a pair on facing pages

  1. Add the left widget on the first page of the pair.
  2. Swipe to the next page, and add the right widget.
  3. Open the phone. The two widgets show side by side.

Step 3: Use the Extra Large size

The Extra Large size fills one whole page. When the phone is open, an Extra Large widget on one page and your apps on the facing page make a clean setup.

Step 4: Make a Smart Stack

Drag a widget on top of another widget of the same size to make a stack. Swipe up or down on the stack to see each widget. A stack saves space when the phone is closed and you see one page at a time.

Step 5: Change the widget

Touch and hold a widget, then tap Edit Widget to change its settings. In Duo Widgets, you pick a design here for the Fold Clock, Rings, and Status Board, and a color for most other widgets.

Step 6: Set up StandBy

StandBy shows when the phone stands on its side on a charger. Set it up in Settings > StandBy. To add widgets there, swipe to the widget view, then touch and hold a widget.
